Groupe Sélection’s history began in 1989 with the purchase of a triplex in Montréal’s Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighborhood. When Réal Bouclin started his business, little did he know that he would one day lead Canada’s largest private sector company in the retirement community sector.

Right from the start, Groupe Sélection implemented a unique vertical integration structure that included the creation of a construction company to develop real estate complexes, a business strategy that proved to be highly advantageous.
Today, Groupe Sélection is a leader in the creation of multi-generational living environments. Since 2013, the number of multi-generational and retirement apartments in its portfolio has increased by 300% to more than 13,000 units. The company now has more than 50 projects in development, construction and operation. While experiencing a fast-paced growth in recent years, Groupe Sélection has also been able to maintain a 95% customer satisfaction rate year after year thanks to the contributions of its almost 5000 devoted employees across Québec.
After celebrating its 30th anniversary, Groupe Sélection is now well-positioned to pursue its expansion in Québec, as well as in new markets in Ontario, the rest of Canada, and the East coast of the United States

Thanks to its unique vertical integration structure, the company is active in acquisition, investment, development, construction and management. The explosive growth experienced by the group in recent years faithfully follows the plan of its founder. With nearly 10,000 units under administration, the company he built has more than 3,000 employees.

Claude Carignan has nearly 30 years of experience in the practice of law and in high-level public functions, as mayor of Saint-Eustache and as Leader of the Government in the Senate of Canada. He is also a member of the Privy Council of Canada. At Groupe Sélection, he is the key player to mobilize, protect and promote the organization.

An architect by training, Gaëtan Cormier is recognized as a developer and a senior level manager. With nearly 30 years of experience, he has achieved numerousresidential and commercial projects. At Groupe Sélection, he is one of the architects of the five-year plan (2015-2020) valued at $2B in Québec alone, in addition to being in charge of international development.

During a career spanning over 30 years, Philippe Duval has consistently stood out in Quebec and internationally, in leadership and management positions within renowned organizations. At Groupe Sélection, he relies on his extensive management experience to oversee the group’s operations in Quebec, as well as several key departments for internal operations and business development.
Senior Vice President, Real Estate
A member of Groupe Sélection’s founding team, Yves Mongeau is Senior Vice President of Real Estate and a shareholder of the company. He is responsible for Groupe CH, the construction company dedicated to Groupe Sélection, and has over 30 years of experience developing residential complexes according to the highest standards of safety and quality in the industry.
Senior Vice President, Finance and Administration
Shareholder for more than 20 years, Robert Laplante has been present since the very beginning of Groupe Sélection. His extensive experience in the financial sector, combined with close to 30 years of involvement in the management of retirement residences are widely used in the strategic and operational management of the company and its subsidiaries.

With over 25 years of experience in the financial services sector, Richard Nadeau has occupied a number of executive positions in the industry. He holds an MBA and a certification from the Institute of Corporate Directors, and is involved in many charitable organizations. At Groupe Sélection, he holds the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Groupe Sélection’s commitment to offering innovative, quality and dynamic living environments is paying off. The Canadian leader won two world-class awards at the 2017 edition of The Globals – Over 50s Housing Healthcare event in London, which celebrates excellence, notably with respect to retirement homes. The Quebec-based company won the Most Outstanding Vertical Retirement Living Project Award for 2017 for its Sélection Panorama Prestige complex in Laval and the Most Outstanding Senior Rental Housing of 2017 award for Sélection Vaudreuil Signature.
